Mr. Ziegler 6th Grade Science
This year middle school physical science will be implementing the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS: MS-PS). The NGSS will help students to become literate in science. They will have opportunities to question and explore, and to apply their knowledge and skills to local and global issues. These standards are aligned with STEM and the Common Core State Standards for Math and English, so that students can practice reading, writing, math, and use of technology while exploring science!
As their teacher I will do everything in my power to help students understand the concepts covered in class, but I also expect each student to take responsibility for his or her own learning. This includes being prepared for class, completing all assignments, seeking help if they struggle, participating, and respecting themselves and others in the classroom. I welcome your questions and concerns, and I look forward to an enjoyable and successful year working with your child!
Some creative projects and work not completed in class may be sent home as homework. Homework will not be accepted if submitted late without a Late Work Pass, which will be provided once per quarter. If the student will be absent when homework due to a pre-scheduled event (vacation, doctor’s appointment, etc), please let me know prior to this event so an exception can be made.
A standard 100-point grading policy will be used:
I look forward to an exciting and educational year!
