Parent Letter from Student Transportation
August 16, 2022
Aloha Parents and Guardians,
Please be advised that the following bus routes will be suspended as of Wednesday, August 17, 2022 until further notice due to the ongoing shortage of student transportation drivers in the state.
Families who are eligible for transportation, but are unable to utilize the service due to the driver shortages may apply for mileage reimbursement. The mileage reimbursement application is attached to this letter for your convenience. Please fill it out and return it to the school office as soon as possible for processing.
If you paid for bus service for one of these routes, there is an online refund form you can use to request a refund due to the disruption in service:

Federal law requires school bus drivers to have their commercial driver’s license (CDL) and two additional endorsements. Meeting all of the requirements can take anywhere from 3-6 months to complete. The nationwide shortage of CDL drivers has negatively impacted the availability of school bus drivers as the demand for that labor pool continues to grow exponentially.
The Student Transportation Services Branch will advise when the routes can be reinstated.
Please email [email protected] if you have any questions.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
